About ProductMadeIn.EU
ProductMadeIn.EU is an independent, non-commercial information site. The aim is simple: help fellow Europeans understand where products really come from, so we can make informed choices about shopping locally.
What you'll find here
For each product we list:
- Producer β the company behind the product, and where its headquarters are.
- Production β where the product is actually manufactured or assembled.
- Raw materials β where the inputs come from, when this is publicly known.
A note on accuracy
Modern supply chains are complex. We rely on publicly available information from producers, public reports, and reader contributions. If you spot an inaccuracy, please send a correction.
A note on ownership
"European" can mean different things. A company may have its headquarters in one country, do its R&D in a second, manufacture in a third, and be majority-owned by investors in a fourth. None of these alone tells the whole story.
For each product we therefore list four separate facts:
- Headquarters β where the company is officially based.
- Production β where the product is actually built or assembled.
- Raw materials β where the inputs come from, when this is publicly known.
- Ownership β who the controlling shareholder is, where they are based, and where the design and R&D actually take place.
Some examples of how these can come apart:
- A car can be designed in Sweden, built in Belgium, and majority-owned by a Chinese group.
- A familiar German brand can be controlled by a charitable foundation rather than a family or shareholders.
- A French chocolate brand may use cocoa from West Africa simply because cocoa cannot be grown in Europe.
We don't tell you which of these dimensions is "the right one" to care about β that's your choice. We just try to make all of them visible.
