Group Lotus has been controlled by Zhejiang Geely Holding (China) since 2017, when Geely acquired a 51% stake from Malaysia's DRB-HICOM. Etika Automotive (Malaysia) retains the remaining 49%. Geely Holding is privately held by founder Li Shufu. The classic sports-car line (Emira, Evora) remains hand-built at Hethel, UK; new electric models (Eletre SUV, Emeya sedan) are built at a new Geely-built plant in Wuhan, China.
